Rochester News

A new natural foods co-op, Fresh Roots, will open this Spring in Ontario.  The co-op will feature gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, organic, local, and non-GMO products.  There will be a kitchen available for gluten-free get-togethers.  Both members and the public will be able to shop their, but members will have additional benefits.  Membership costs a one-time fee of $250.  Keep up with them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/freshrootscoop.

Wegmans is doing a trial run of their new freshly baked gluten-free baked goods at the Pittsford location. My favorite sweet treat is the frosted brownie!

The Greater Rochester Celiac Support Group is holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 pm at St. Ann’s Church.  The topic is traveling gluten-free and yours truly will be speaking on traveling internationally!

Wegmans Recalls Gluten Free Mixes – Wegmans recalled four of their gluten free baking mixes in November because they could contain non-labeled ingredients such as milk, soy, or pecan.  This comes just after they expanded their gluten free Wegmans brand selection of products.  No news on whether new products will be developed.

Donna Marie’s at Strong Memorial Hospital -All of Finger Lake Roasters three locations at Strong Memorial Hospital will now carry Donna Marie’s Gluten Free Bakery goods.

Amazon Deal for GF Goods – Amazon Local Deals is offering a $14 coupon for $7 at the Abundance Cooperative Market until Thursday, 10/4.  Abundance Co-Op carries many gluten free items.
